He attended Oregon State University and graduated with a B.S. in Finance and Administration. Before joining Fortress, Wes Edens began his career at Lehman Brothers where he was a partner and managing director. He left in 1993 and joined BlackRock Asset Investors until 1997. In 1998, Wes Edens became one of the founding principles of Fortress Investment Group. He primarily handles the Private Equity Division of this company.
