McDonalds is a fast food chain with several branches across the globe. This restaurant is loved by many because of their delicious hamburgers that are out of the world. They sell a relatively high number of hamburgers to people in different areas daily. However, many people are getting concerned with the amount of preservatives that are used in fast food joints. While these preservatives are meant to keep the food from rotting, they are known to cause harm in the human body. People nowadays want to know what their food contains in terms of additives and preservatives. The McDonald hamburgers have not been exempted from this concern. One consumer by the name David Whipple decided to experiment on the McDonald’s hamburger to find out the amount of preservatives it has. He locked away a hamburger for 14 years and later when he unraveled it, it looked the same. This experiment sparked a lot of debate from consumers of the hamburgers. Many believed that the hamburger did not show any signs of rotting because it contained preservatives, but scientists disapproved this thought. For the hamburgers to rot, they needed a conducive environment that contains warmth, moisture, and water. Therefore, the hamburger lacked this in the cabinet, and that is why it did not rot. McDonalds also issued a statement saying they did not use preservatives for their hamburgers. We were prompted to visit the McDonald’s factory that belongs to OSI Group and see how the hamburgers are made. The OSI Group factory is the sole supplier of meat products to the restaurant. The hygienic levels in the factory are high so that the meat is not contaminated. The meat is also checked for bones thoroughly to ensure customers do not bite on pieces of bones when having their hamburgers. The hamburgers are taken to a lab for testing to ensure the fat content does not exceed the expected amount. Most people do not like fatty hamburgers, and thus, this step is necessary. The hamburger that finally reaches the consumer is safe to consume and extremely tasty.
